I’m pleased to report that the washable nappies are finally working, so we’ve reduced our household waste by half as of one week ago. Yay! Also, the worm composter is working nicely. It’s a haven for fruit flies so I try not to get all grossed out and just accept that Mother Nature, in her wisdom, has blessed us with more than one type of, er, composter. The worms are wriggling but I think that the flies are winning in the top tray. Fortunately, the little buggers don’t seem at all interested in anything outside of rotting vegetable matter, meaning that they stay put in the composter. Which means that I don’t need to cringe in housewife embarrassment as a hundred tiny fruitflies buzz by. Yet.

Biodegradable plastic bags: Hecho en España
Their site’s down right now, but I can’t wait to have a nose around Sphere Spain’s web page. Apparently they’re the largest plastic bag manufacturer in Europe, and the fourth largest in the world. They are very into bioplastics and are making bags out of vegetable matter. Based in Zaragoza.
